Barcelona and Nike have had a historic partnership since 1998, and the American clothing giants have not disappointed Barcelona, as their jerseys are always fan favourites.

Black is a colour that looks sleek and mysterious, and whenever kit-makers decided to use black for a kit, the fans go wild.

This article is dedicated to ranking the four official black kits Nike have made for Barcelona so far.

Number 4 - 2013/2014 Third Kit

At fourth place is Barcelona's 2013/2014 third kit. The club and the company decided to go black for the third kit, and designed it simply, with only stripes on the side. The sponsor's name is written in white—Qatar Airways, which succeeded Qatar Foundation, which only lasted a year in the 2011/2012 season. Since the kit is plain and minimal, I rank this kit at fourth place.

Number 3 - 2011/2012 Away Kit

At third place is Barcelona's away kit for 2011/2012, aka Messi's (one of many) Prime year, scoring 91 goals in 69 games. This was Barcelona's first ever black kit in their long and timeless history. It is a very special kit, as it has the FIFA Club World Cup patch on the middle, which Barcelona received the right to wear for winning the Club World Cup, and 4 other trophies alongside it. This was also the first jersey where the sponsors weren't UNICEF; instead, it was sponsored by the Qatar Foundation, which was replaced by Qatar Airways just a year later. This kit is special in the heart of Culers, not only because it reminded them of one of Messi's craziest years, but also because of that beautiful CWC patch in that sleek black. I rank this kit at third place.

Number 2 - 2020/2021 Away Kit

At second place is one of Barcelona's best ever kits, the 2020/2021 away kit. This features an elegant gold accent which adds the touch to make this kit beautiful! This kit also has a V-neck collar which contributes to its modern and minimalistic look. Nike did an excellent job with this, giving this jersey a premium and royal look. This kit is also significant as it was Messi's final season at Barcelona, before an emotional announcement to part ways. Because of this kit's sleek and minimal look, I rank this kit at second place.

Number 1 - 2024/2024 Away Kit

At first place is without doubt, Barcelona's 2024/2025 away kit. Nike absolutely overdid themselves with this kit. The blacked out crest placed in the middle with blue and red lines on each side is simply a work of art. Not to mention the sleek Nike logo, also with the blue and red accent, which looks great, but some people initially wanted the Nike logo to be on the middle too, but now, the fans are liking it. The blue and red lines on each side are the cherry on the top, completing this kit with a totally minimalistic, premium and elegant look. This time, they decided to go with the sponsor, Spotify's logo only, both on the home and away kit. This was unlike the leaked version which showed both the logo and the text. However, the fan version does include the logo and the text, which most fans think look better. Regardless, this kit looks amazing, sporting the Blaugrana colours in true fashion. This kit would go into the history of one of Barcelona's best kits.

Concluding this list, Barcelona has lot of amazing and beautiful kits, and black kits certainly hold a high place in the Catalan giants' roster of kits. I hope Barcelona and Nike work together to create more black kits, which will definitely end up as fan favourites.
